Fishing Derby

This past weekend, Mick and I went to the canal to try our hand at the fishing derby--nothing new for him, but definitely for me! Amazingly I took first place--for the first day, that is! Pretty satisfied with my 4th place finish, though!

Lakefair

Today Em and I went to Lakefair. Although it was a gray and overcast day, it was surprisingly warm at 72 degrees. I let Em pick out a few rides, and was a little surprised when the last ride she picked was the kiddie roller coaster. I warned her that it was a fast one, but she was adamant--she had to go on it! Needless to say, after getting her off the ride, she clung to me, saying "that was a very bumpy ride and it made me sick. I don't want to go on that EVER AGAIN!" :) Afterwards, we headed to the park to play and have Hawaiian shaved ice, and finally, get our face painted. Busy day, but lots of fun!!

05.11.07 Cozumel, Mexico

All I can say is WOW. This day definitely took the cake. For my first day of deep sea fishing, I don't know if I'll EVER have another day like this!
I could honestly go on and on, but I'll try to sum it a bit.
Each brought in 4 large Mahi Mahi (2 over 40lbs).
Together brought in 1 white marlin (80-90 lbs--avg. is usually around 40).
WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!
We are DEFINITELY going back!

05.10.07 Grand Cayman

Today is the day that our camera died. Yes we remembered ALMOST everything, except the charger for our camera's battery. After getting royally screwed with the prices of disposable cameras, we broke down and bought an entirely new camera in Grand Cayman--so at least we have these departing pics!
Grand Cayman was probably the most beautiful port of all. Crystal blue waters, PERFECT weather... Our excursion for the day was heading out to Stingray City--what an experience! The excursion crew took us out quite a ways, anchored the boat, and we all hopped off donning our snorkeling gear and feeling a little apprehensive. As soon as a got in the water and looked out, that apprehensive feeling turned more toward the direction of panic. Through the clear blue water, all you could see was this huge herd (do stingrays come in herds??) of stingrays (from quite a ways away) heading towards us--FOR THE FEEDING!!!! Not us! Didn't I mention that we were going to feed them squid? LOL It was certainly a new experience, having these huge creatures swarming around us, eating out of our hands, letting us hold them, and even sneak a kiss!

05.09.07 Montego Bay, Jamaica, Mon.

Ah Jamaica--first port of call. Weather was awesome here--Hot but not overbearing. We tried out snorkeling (a first for me), but was pretty disappointed. Afterwards, we joined the other tourists hanging out at Margaritaville--Honestly would have loved to spend the day there.

Finally, we hit the famous Jamaican Bobsled Cafe (remember that movie "Cool Runnings"?)--If you are wanting a strong drink, this is definitely the place for you!!

Overall, Jamaica was great, only a bit overbearing for me. I've heard of high-pressure sales... But, come on!

05.08.07 Another day at sea--Mardi Gras!

Yet another day at sea, so of course more fun pics! This was my first cruise (Mick has been on cruises before), and I was amazed at how roomy our room was--Check out our window--no little porthole here!
Dinner was a blast tonight--our waiters and servers put on some interesting entertainment by hopping up on the tables and dancing to "Livin' La Vida Loca"! Honestly, these pictures do NOT do them justice!
After dinner, we had a great Mardi Gras party on the upper deck. What a blast! Truly, the BEST vacation!

05.07.07 Formal Night on the Conquest

We finally made it!!!! Ah, vacation at last! Already we are having the best vacation ever--and we have yet to set foot on land! It was a lot of fun getting dressed up and heading out to dinner. Afterwards, we dressed it down and headed out to our new fave hangount--the piano bar. Our trip just started and we already met some great people.
